“Astronaut”

The original sketch

This is the original quick sketch of the idea.
I imagined an astronaut in an unusual place. Usually you can find them in space, far above our Earth. Here he is standing in a field. In the background the moon is shining. Or perhaps he is on a completely different planet in the year 2329. I wanted to create a surrealistic picture that still looks as realistic as possible.

Matching pictures

After I found suitable pictures I had to cut out the astronaut and put him from his place in the museum into the field. The difficult part of this picture was to get the most realistic reflection in his helmet. First I did everything in color - blue sky, blue reflection. But that looked too much like daylight to me, so later I changed the sky colour to grey. That was better. All pictures I used are shown below.

Colors and atmosphere

I adapted the astronaut to his environment, played around with HSL adjustments, contrast and brightness settings. Then I made the depths brighter, adapted them to my typical, personal style. I prefer dark grey instead of black.
I like how the red flowers contrast with the grey. Spots of colour on a mystical grey planet.

Imagine yourself standing next to the astronaut and enjoying the surreal moment.

I always appreciate feedback.
